North Hills Kids in the Park Pt. VII

Now, more than ever, it is important to keep our children engaged and stimulated as we all work through this period of uncertainty.  North Hills Kids, presented by Wells Orthodontics, is here to help!  We will be picking up the weekly blog posts again following the originally planned theme.  When we all work to #stayhome, we can move closer toward gathering outside together very soon!

This week is our “Wet ‘n Wild” theme!

While we continue to work through this difficult (and hot!) time, there are still fun ways for your children to be outside and stay cool!  Below are some ideas and DIY games that your children will love.

DIY Slip ‘n Slide

Grab a tarp or plastic tablecloth, pin it to the ground using tent stakes, add water (and soap for extreme fun) and slide on down!

Water Balloon Toss

Pick up a pack of water balloons at your nearest store and make a competition in your backyard!  Start out close range and slowly move back to make it more difficult.

Drip, Drip, Drop

This is a watered-down version of Duck, Duck, Goose. Have the kids sit in a circle on the ground. One person holds a large cup of water overhead, using his fingers to drip water on people’s heads. When he chooses whom to “dunk,” he pours the water on that person’s head. The dunkee has to get up and chase the dunker.

Tinfoil River

Using a roll of tin foil, create a long river, angled downward. Gather some boats or rubber duckies. Turn up the sides of the foil so that when items pass down the river, they can hit the sides and keep on floating.

Water Piñata

Fill water balloons of varying sizes and tie them to a string. Blindfold the kids and have them take turns swinging a plastic bat or fallen branch at the balloons until they all explode.
