Information

This mural is a depiction of a large oak tree, reminiscent of North Carolina. The perched cardinal adds a pop of color to the black and white picture, which is woven with North Carolina imagery throughout the tree’s trunk. If you look close enough you will find dogwood leaves, Dorton Arena, the Raleigh Greenway logo, references to both the sea and the mountains, the Raleigh skyline, and a variety of animals and produce indigenous to North Carolina. Produced in three days by international muralist, Kelsey Montague, the mural is an original design that was influenced and evolved during Kelsey’s visit to Raleigh.

Kelsey's murals specifically invite people into a piece and then invite people to share their experience online. Kelsey believes that art should not be separated from the human experience. Instead the human experience should have a hand in creating the art itself. After studying art in Florence, and graduating from Richmond University in London with a degree in Art, Design & Media, Kelsey spent 4 years in NYC – embracing and battling the Big Apple while developing her pen & ink style.
